Project House for SAP Logistics Achieves 2022 Goals and Looks Optimistically to the New Year.

Augsburg, December 15, 2022 – SWAN GmbH looks back on a successful year. Despite economic and political challenges, the project house for SAP logistics expects a 13 percent increase in revenue compared to the previous year by the end of the year. Key milestones in achieving this included the successful completion of the integration of the SAP division of the SSI Schäfer Group, which began in 2021, the expansion of the SWAN management team, and the founding of SWAN AT in Graz. In addition to successful project business in the area of SAP EWM in the automotive, food & beverages, pharmaceutical, and fashion industries, the company focused on the consistent expansion of the SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) division in 2022. For 2023, the project house also aims for further clarification of the product portfolio and corporate values. Just like in 2022, significant investments in employee training and development remain a priority.

With an expected revenue increase of 13 percent to over 14 million euros compared to the previous year and over 50 active customers in the customer lifecycle service, SWAN is more than satisfied. “Tense markets, supply chain disruptions, and rising energy and raw material prices also affect our work. However, thanks to the high commitment of the entire SWAN team and the trusting cooperation with our customers, we managed to handle the associated delays in projects efficiently and look optimistically to the coming year,” said Alexander Bernhard, Managing Director of SWAN GmbH.

Customer Base Expands Worldwide

The biggest challenges also led to the greatest successes. SWAN implemented SAP-EWM intralogistics solutions in numerous international companies in the automotive, pharmaceutical, fashion, and food industries. In addition to intralogistics solutions for new warehouse construction, the majority of orders involved retrofitting existing facilities. Andreas Brand, Director of SAP Realization and Procurator of SWAN: “Especially in projects in the automotive industry, implementing SAP-EWM solutions in ongoing operations was a special challenge. However, we were able to handle this thanks to our extensive experience. At no time did production lines come to a standstill.”

The high customer satisfaction beyond the go-live is reflected in the numerous follow-up projects. “We not only acquired many new customers but also intensified cooperation with satisfied existing customers,” said Andreas Simon, Director of SAP Sales at SWAN GmbH.

Expansion of Management and Locations

In August, SWAN expanded its management team. In addition to the procurators Yvonne Oehme and Kai Starke, Andreas Brand received procuration. Together with Managing Director Alexander Bernhard, they form the institutionalized management team in the SWAN management. With the appointment of Martin Fröschl as Director of SAP TM, SWAN positioned itself more strongly in the area of SAP Transportation Management, which SWAN continues to expand. With the founding of SWAN AT GmbH in Graz and the establishment of a local consulting and service team in Mexico, the project house for SAP logistics took further steps towards internationalization.

Employee Qualification and Well-being in Focus

The successful course of recent years has led SWAN to grow to over 140 employees at seven locations. The branch in Nuremberg recently experienced considerable expansion. The previous location in Altenstadt an der Waldnaab moved to a larger and more energy-efficient building in Weiden. The new spaces meet the needs of modern, flexible working models in the context of SWAN’s New Work philosophy and create areas for personal collaboration and communication.

Training and development have always played a central role at SWAN. The high quality standard is reflected in the “European Training Award 2022,” which SWAN won in the category “Hybrid/Blended Training” for its hybrid training concept for executives. The award was initiated by the Professional Association for Training, Consulting, and Coaching (BDVT e.V.). In addition, the SWAN Academy offers its apprentices, newcomers, and long-standing employees the opportunity to expand their expertise at any time. With other employee-friendly measures such as assuming childcare costs, flexible Workation offers, or modern company car models for all employees, the company invests in its team in other areas.

Finally, the concept of the subsidiary SWAN Consultancy GmbH has become well established and is experiencing moderate growth. SWAN responded to the growing shortage of IT specialists in the IT industry by founding the subsidiary in 2019. The company recruits IT specialists and digitization experts with a focus on SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and IT project and change management to customers from all industries.

Outlook for 2023: Signs Point to Further Growth

With well-filled order books and promising digitization projects, SWAN looks optimistically and motivated to the new year. Strategically, the topics of “values” and “expansion of the product portfolio” are on the agenda. As part of an extensive values program with intensive workshops, the SWAN management wants to involve all employees in the continuous development of the corporate philosophy and corporate values. Furthermore, SWAN plans to sharpen its already strong product portfolio. This will better meet the changing needs and requirements of future digitization projects in logistics.
