Automotive

  • SWAN Automotive Logistics
  • We live Automotive Logistics

Dynamism and diversification are today’s requirements for an efficient logistics network – especially in the automotive industry. This is because there is a comprehensive supply chain with many links, consisting of numerous suppliers and service providers.

The number of vehicle parts alone speaks volumes: a car requires around ten thousand individual parts.

  • SAP EWM Tugger train

For our automotive customers, we have developed a tugger train solution fully integrated into SAP EWM with a schedule generator based on the production shifts. The tugger trains take over the flow of goods for production supply and are connected to a fully automated tugger train loading system. The software solution calculates and controls the optimum time window for retrieval and the sequenced, volume-optimised provision for the correct Kanban routes as well as the automatic loading of the tugger trains.

In collaboration with the Technical University of Munich, a comprehensive planning tool was developed for the specific requirements of a tugger train logic – this resulted in a timetable generator with reliable advance scheduling of the tugger trains, their stops, shifts, breaks and routes in SAP EWM.

  • FTS integration

Especially in the highly synchronised automotive industry, a coordinated flow of goods between logistics, production and shipping plays a decisive role in efficient value creation. The SAP EWM integration of AGVs creates a flexible and scalable automation of internal material flows with a sustainable reduction in throughput times. We are happy to support you in selecting the right vehicles for small and large load carriers and with our experience in integrating AGVs into SAP logistics systems.

  • Properly packaged

The right packaging plays a key role in the automotive industry in particular. Not only must the goods arrive in the production lines at the right place at the right time, they must also be available for further processing in the right quantities and in suitable packaging.

Using functions such as packing specifications and VAS orders or with the help of planned shipping HUs from the TM, EWM ensures that the shipping pallets are put together in the ideal customer-specific way during order picking. We help to map the physical activities consistently in EWM. This also includes the management and booking of consumables for packaging materials, as well as labelling using VDA-compliant labels. We are also familiar with customised delivery splits for pallet targeting requirements.

  • Our solutions

With the use of intelligent add-ons, e.g. for automated tugger trains, we link production and distribution processes. We automate and track serial numbers and pack in a QEM-compliant manner. By using SAP EWM and SAP TM, we ensure efficiency and transparency along the entire supply and logistics chain. So that you are also in pole position tomorrow.

Success Stories
  • Automotive in production

    Grammer

We have introduced a fully automated multifunctional warehouse with SAP EWM / MFS for the manufacturer of interior components and operating systems for the automotive industry in Hardheim.

The double-deep high-bay warehouse with storage and retrieval lanes on both sides provides sequenced dispatch pallets for goods issue and supplies the double-deep miniload with replenishment. The sequenced picking workstations are supplied from the miniload with multiple load handling devices. Production is connected via tugger trains.

  • Sports car on the country road

    TMD Friction

Together with our automation partner KARDEX MLOG, we have introduced SAP EWM for a highly automated production site at TMD Friction in Essen.

The scope of services includes a high-bay warehouse with several storage and retrieval aisles, a multi-aisle automated container warehouse and corresponding pallet and container conveyor technology on several levels. An integrated highlight is the sequenced recipe filling into production directly at automatic workstations in the mixing department.
