With our flexible SWAN project management approach, we pave the way for the rapid success of your complex logistics project. Even before the project begins, our Project Management Office (PMO) works with you to develop a concept tailored to your needs to ensure that the project runs smoothly. The SWAN PMO also coordinates complex projects and existing resources internally and across projects, incorporates best practices into the project management process, and closely oversees project management for all customers – even before the project starts and beyond go-live.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

The SWAN PMO coordinates existing resources for optimal delivery of your project. This is especially critical when employees are involved in more than one project or function. The uniform and organization-wide SWAN resource management prioritizes tasks within the different projects and takes into account, among other things, the workload and skills of the employees.

PROCESS AND METHOD RESPONSIBILITIES

The PMO uses best practices to develop project standards that are incorporated into the SWAN methodology catalog. We rely on retrospectives, intensive lessons learned workshops, and project coaching to identify recurring, consistent requirements across all projects. At the same time, we attach great importance to designing the method case flexibly in order to meet the respective project requirements of the individual customer.

ADVANCING UNIFIED PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS

SWAN relies on different project management methods for project implementation, which are based on the individual requirements of the customer. The SWAN PMO therefore provides targeted and regular training for project managers in training sessions and individual project coaching to ensure consistently high quality in project management.

MULTI-PROJECT CONTROLLING & PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

As a higher-level instance, the PMO is responsible for multi-project controlling, so-called portfolio management. For us, it's not just classic project management metrics like time, resources and budget that count here. We also measure work progress and project satisfaction to evaluate the success of our projects. In this way, we succeed in continuously optimizing SWAN project management.

COMMUNICATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS

With the PMO, we have established a communication interface between projects, service, management and other teams involved, such as sales or business administration. This close linkage allows us to develop a project management concept already in the acquisition phase, based on the customer's individual requirements as well as our best practices.

HYBRID PROJECT MANAGEMENT APPROACH FOR FLEXIBLE PROJECT DESIGN

SWAN project management methods are part of an agile canon that is based on best practices and can be individually adapted to customer requirements. As a rule, SWAN’s project methodology is based on a combination of classic waterfall methodology as well as agile project management, which are applied along SWAN’s developed and flexibly adaptable project methodology. The project approach is typically divided into four phases: Discover/Design-Implement-Commisioning-Hypercare. These are processed one after the other (waterfall method), whereby the implement phase is carried out completely agilely in sprints and stories (agile project management).

Through this hybrid approach, SWAN combines the advantages of the different methodologies, can react flexibly and agilely to individual customer requirements, and still creates planning security and transparency.
