SWAN makes efficient warehousing
with AutoStore ready for SAP Business Technology Platform and integrated with SAP EWM
Product launch: AutoStore Warehouse Integration in SAP Store
Augsburg, November 6, 2024 – SWAN GmbH, a project house for SAP logistics, has connected the AutoStore™ system with SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) through the SWAN AutoStore Warehouse Integration. This full technical integration offers companies maximum efficiency and flexibility when managing their warehouse processes. The cloud solution is available via the SAP Store.
As a modern storage and picking system, AutoStore uses a modular aluminum structure (grid) on which robots can move and store containers. The space-saving design makes optimum use of the available storage space and enables faster picking processes. With AutoStore Warehouse Integration, all processes in the AutoStore system are now mapped and controlled from SAP EWM. The technical integration without middleware creates a close link between the two systems, as detailed data is processed solely in the SAP system. The fully update-capable product, SWAN AutoStore Warehouse Integration, has already been implemented by SWAN as an on-premise version and is now available as a cloud solution in SAP Store.
The new SWAN AutoStore Warehouse Integration in detail
SWAN’s AutoStore Warehouse Integration enables the technical connection of an AutoStore system to SAP EWM. At the same time, it provides tools for customising and expansion options in order to integrate it into the existing process landscape. The solution also includes FIORI UI5 workstation and administration/control dialogues. These pre-built dialogues make the system user-friendly and enable tasks such as picking, putaway, inspection and inventory management to be processed from the familiar interface. SWAN has also created options that can be used to make individual adjustments to the customer system in order to supplement customised SAP ABAP coding. Without affecting the update capability of the overall system.
Advantages of the direct integration of AutoStore with SAP EWM
The integration of AutoStore with SAP EWM provides users with a streamlined and efficient link between the AutoStore system and their warehouse management processes, without the additional cost of middleware. By enabling AutoStore to communicate directly with SAP EWM, the data from both systems is orchestrated and stock is managed in one central location. The modern and user-friendly UI5 interface provides users with intuitive operation in a familiar design. The standardised interface also creates in-depth process integration, giving companies complete transparency and control over all warehouse operations. This offers companies further advantages: Updates can be carried out more easily, there are fewer administrative costs and they can continue to benefit from the technological developments of SAP and AutoStore.
‘With AutoStore Warehouse Integration, we are making AutoStore an even more powerful solution for modern logistics processes. Our solutions help our customers to increase their productivity and organise their warehousing more efficiently. Our new developments are based on SAP Business Technology Platform solutions, are fully upgradeable and are therefore a long-term investment in the future so that our customers can keep their finger on the pulse,’ says Kai Starke, Director Realisation and authorised signatory at SWAN GmbH.
