SWAN looks back on 2021 with satisfaction

SWAN EWM Teammeeting

Project House for SAP Logistics Records the Most Successful Year Since Its Founding

Augsburg, December 17, 2021 – A success story continues: SWAN GmbH has wrapped up an eventful year and looks forward to the future with anticipation. Alongside celebrating its tenth anniversary, the project house for SAP logistics marked other achievements: significant milestones included a strategic partnership with SSI Schäfer, an increase to approximately 20 simultaneous customer projects in eight countries, and the expansion of the company group. From four to eight branches, and from 70 to 130 employees. Despite many changes, the unique SWAN spirit has remained intact. This is also reflected in the high employee satisfaction. In the first half of the year, the SAP logistics expert won two employer awards: the Great Place to Work® Award and the Agil.Award 2021.

For SWAN, 2021 was the most successful year in its ten-year history. The SAP experts have long outgrown their start-up phase and look back on many exciting and eventful years filled with interesting and challenging projects and innovative logistics solutions. A modern work environment, flat hierarchies, a strong team spirit, and open and transparent communication have been integral to SWAN from the beginning.

Award-Winning Employer

“Agile working, new work, and self-responsibility are highly valued and appreciated by our employees,” says Managing Director Alexander Bernhard. This is also reflected in their satisfaction. SWAN was doubly awarded for its workplace culture in this year’s Great Place to Work® “Best Employers Competition” by the international research and consulting institute of the same name. At that time, with a team of 70, SWAN ranked among the 14 best ITK employers nationwide in the 50-100 employee size category and placed 16th among the best employers in Bavaria in the same category. Additionally, the Bavarian metal and electrical employers’ associations bayme vbm awarded the project house for SAP logistics the Agil.Award 2021 in the medium-sized business category (50 to 249 employees) as part of their annual Business Excellence Day.

Partnership with SSI Schäfer and Site Expansion

In the second half of the year, the most significant milestone in the company’s history was achieved: SWAN and the industry giant SSI Schäfer entered a strategic partnership to consolidate their SAP expertise. The intralogistics specialist SSI Schäfer became the majority owner of SWAN GmbH, which continues to operate independently in the market.

Through this partnership, SWAN positioned itself among the top five providers for SAP logistics and opened up further internationalization of its business areas. As part of the partnership, SWAN took over not only the project execution of SSI Schäfer’s SAP division but also 55 experienced SAP EWM experts. This acquisition included gaining three additional branches in Dortmund, Walldorf, and Giebelstadt, and the first step towards internationalization with a new office location in Graz, Austria.

On a Growth Path

The SAP specialists continue to ascend. This year, SWAN successfully completed several projects and, by the end of the year, was managing more than 40 active customers in the Customer Lifecycle Service. An expected revenue increase of 27 percent to over 11.25 million euros compared to the previous year speaks for itself. “We have had an exciting year, with many challenges and tasks that we successfully mastered. This would never have been possible without our employees, their expertise, and their outstanding commitment. We also want to thank our customers and partners for the good cooperation on an equal footing, the invested trust, and the joint effort to create great logistics solutions,” Alexander Bernhard concludes with satisfaction: “For the coming year, we are highly motivated with a well-filled pipeline of technically challenging SAP logistics projects and have concrete plans for further growth and the expansion of our partner network in the software and product sectors.”
